My name is Richard van Kuyk.
I have been interested in photography since I bought my first camera at the age of 13. I moved trough a variety of cameras as my experience grew, from a simple, all manual 35 mm range finder, to 35 mm SLR and medium format cameras. I now use Nikon digital SLR cameras, a D70 and a D300. Photography means writing with light and I like all aspects and possibilities this gives me, from recording a single water drop to a downpour, or the way it can show movement or texture. The 16th century French philosopher Rene Descartes once said, " I THINK, THEREFORE I AM". I would like to use a variation on his words, [with his kind permission of course] " I SEE, THEREFORE I PHOTOGRAPH". 
I like to share my photographic experiences with others and through this exchange learn more about other people and their photography.
I am also interested in the hardware used to record these images and I therefore collect cameras and its associated bits and pieces.
