 Where are we located?

We have two locations;

  • The Ship (our hall) - Gloria Ave, Te Atatu Peninsula
  • The Boatshed - Taipari Strand, at the end of Taikata Road, in the same building as the Henley Waterski Club.

Summer Terms (1 and 4) we meet at The Boatshed, while winter terms (2 and 3), we meet at The Ship.

  
 When do we meet? Minimize

Our meeting nights/times:

  • Keas – Mondays – 5.00 to 6.30 pm
  • Cubs – Mondays – 6.30 to 8.00 pm
  • Scouts – Wednesdays – 6:30 to 8:30 pm
  • Venturers – Tuesdays – 6.30 to 8.30 pm

*A minimum of two trained leaders are always present at Cubs and Scouts along with parent helpers (we ensure there are male and female adults present).

 Who can join?

Boys and girls, young and old. Anyone is welcome (the parents can join in too if they want!)

  • Keas welcome children aged from 6
  • Cubs cater to the next age group, from 8 to 10½
  • Scouts is open to both girls and boys from the ages of 10½ to 15
  • Venturers takes the scouts from 14½ to 18

Anyone is welcome, however for safety reasons before scouts take part in water activities they must prove they can swim 50 metres, any stroke, non stop.

  • Auckland and Northland Regattas (massive Sea Scout competition)
  • Annual overnight tramp in the Coromandel or Kaimai Ranges
  • A sailing and kayaking camp
  • A summer family camp
  • Multiple camping competitions
  • Snow trips
  • Sailing races at Pt. Chevalier yacht club every fortnight during winter

 Our Equipment
  • 12 kayaks
  • 4 cutters (16 ft long sailing/rowing boats that accommodate a crew of 5–7)
  • 3 small sailing dinghies
  • 2 powered safety boats
  • Lifejackets
  • Camping equipment (lots!)
  • Packs for both standing and mobile camps
  • A Blokart
  • Windsurfers
  • Many tents
