The Te Kawerau Iwi Tribal Authority is developing a database of members of the Te Kawerau a Maki Iwi. The purpose of the database is to:
- Enable Iwi members to participate in Te Kawerau Iwi Tribal Authority elections as a voter or a candidate (must be over 18 years old);
- Allow Iwi members to be involved in shaping the direction of the Iwi;
- Enable Iwi members to access entitlements such as sponsorship, scholarships and other assistance Te Kawerau Iwi Tribal Authority may determine;
- Assist Te Kawerau Iwi Tribal Authority to communicate with you; and
- Build the Iwi whakapapa database. .

Registration on the Iwi Register is open to members of the Te Kawerau a Maki Iwi. Descendants of Te Kawerau a Maki are those people who can whakapapa (either by birth, adoption or whangai) to two or more of the following persons:
- Tawhia ki te Rangi (also known as Te Kawerau a Maki); and/or
- Mana; and/or
- Te Au o Te Whenua; and/or
- Kowhatu ki te Uru.
In order to verify your eligibility to register as an Iwi member, and hence as a beneficiary of Te Kawerau Iwi Tribal Authority, your registration form will need to be approved by a
current trustee of Te Kawerau Iwi Tribal Authority. If you have any queries regarding your eligibility, please
